Rhinebeck – Taylor VanVoorhis, 27, a lifetime resident of Rhinebeck, passed away at his home peacefully on November 2, 2024, after a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Born in Rhinebeck on September 23, 1997, he was the son of William, “Bill”, and Donna (Bird) VanVoorhis.
Taylor was an avid sports fan rooting for all teams but made it a point to cheer on his favorite teams, the Yankees and the Patriots. His favorite memory was when Make a Wish granted him the opportunity to meet the core four of the New York Yankees. Taylor also had a true love of all animals. He enjoyed having all animals around him, whether it was watching the birds and squirrels or cuddling with all the foster kittens from HVARS.
More than anything Taylor loved spending time with family and friends. Whether it was staying up all night playing Call of Duty with his siblings or sharing new foods and drinks he saw on tv, even new hard ciders and mixed drinks. He was happy as long as everyone was having fun together.
Taylor was predeceased by his grandfather Charles “Jim” VanVoorhis.
In addition to his parents Bill and Donna, Taylor is survived by his siblings, Casey (Alyssa) VanVoorhis and Sabrina (Sam) VanVoorhis; his grandparents, Beverly VanVoorhis, Carol Bird, and Don Bird (Kathy “Kaffy”); his niece Faith “Space”; and beloved dog, Mickey Moose, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Memorial Hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck on Friday November 8, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm.
The family requests that everyone comes to the Memorial Hours in Bright Colors, avoiding black if possible.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial Donations in honor of Taylor can be made to Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, HVARS, 9 Barnes Dr., Arlington, NY 12603.
