Thomas J. Murphy

Thomas J. Murphy, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Thursday March 9th, 2023 at 87 years old.

Born in Lackawanna, NY on June 13, 1935. After attending Canisius college in Buffalo, Tom was recruited by IBM to the Hudson Valley.  Tom’s entire career was with IBM. He worked in all locations ending his career in Armonk, NY.  Tom traveled widely for IBM, both domestically and internationally during the microchip development era in the US. 

Tom’s joy came from sailing, horseback riding, a good Bordeaux, and being wingman for his wife, Dolores.  Tom loved to reminisce about his childhood and his many traveling adventures.   He took pleasure seeing his children's careers and passions grow.  He also had very individual and unique relationships with each of his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. 

Tom was an extraordinary caregiver to Dolores, who sadly lived with dementia for many years.  His family is eternally grateful for the love and care he provided to his Dolores.  He honored her in the most compassionate ways.

Tom is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Rogers Murphy.  He is also survived by his four children: Vince (Junie), Anne (Gary), Tom(Brenda), and Elaine (Steve) along with 5 grandchildren: Justin, Colin, Hannah, Thomas, Abby, and one great grandchild, Jasper.
