Virgina vonderLieth Obituary

Virginia R. vonderLieth, 86 of Rhinebeck, NY passed away on Sunday, June 6th, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.   Born on April 2nd, 1935 to Gordon E. Ross and Gladys (Morill) Ross in Pine Plains, NY, Virginia grew up in Rhinebeck, NY and graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 1952. Ten years later, she married the love of her life, Charles “Ted” vonderLieth.

For over 30 years, ‘Giny’ managed her father’s business, Ross Welding Service, Inc. and after his retirement, she worked for Triebel’s Garage in Red Hook, NY.  Through her work, she met many wonderful people, some of whom became cherished friends.

Giny was very active in her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Wurtemburg. For over 33 years she had served on the council, being President and Treasurer, chaired the Turkey Supper and sang in the choir.  The church, its grounds, and its congregants are all very special to her and now it will be her forever home.

Due to her father’s long history in stock car racing, she was a fan of NASCAR from its inception and still watched the race every Sunday.   She has contributed memorabilia and stories to the archives of racing clubs and to publishers of racing history.

Giny always had a positive attitude, even when facing her health issues later in life. Her caregivers recognized this, but without their attentiveness and friendship, it would have been much harder.  The family would like to recognize the kindness of Sierra, Maryann, Tiffany, Kerri, Liz, Amanda, Jonathan, Katie, Scott, Joe, Lisa-Sue, Sue J., Maria and Ernestine for making her final days happy.  In true service to every community she was a part of, Giny served on the residents’ council of the Meadows at Brookmeade.

She was always supportive of her husband, children and grandchildren and encouraged them in their endeavors.  Giny is survived by her daughter, Gretchen vonderLieth, her daughter, Georgette Hall, son-in-law Lester Hall and her grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Hall, whom she was so proud of and adored.

She was predeceased by her husband and parents.

There are no calling hours.
