Rhinebeck – Walter “Wally” J. Palinski, 66, a resident of Rhinebeck, passed away at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center on April 21, 2021.
Born in Rhinebeck on October 19, 1954, he was the son of the late William F. and Margaret (Zabrowski) Palinski. Wally attended Our Lady of Lords High School, Poughkeepsie NY, Carroll College, Helena MT, SUNY Canton, Canton NY. On (March 12, 1977) he married Eileen King in (Holy Cross Church Dewitt NY). Mrs. Palinski survives at home.
Wally started his career with John Deere as a Parts specialist at Cazenovia Equipment in Nelson NY and continued as manager at Gor-Duns East in Highland NY and later as a parts specialist at Keil Equipment, in Hudson NY. He was an avid Indian Motorcycle enthusiast and collector, touring the US with IMCA Rallies. When not working on bikes, he’d be restoring classic cars his favorite being his 1947 Ford F series “Hank.” Wally taught Farm Equipment Safety courses with the 4H Club of America, he was on the Board of directors for the John Deere Tractor program at SUNY Cobleskill. Wally was a past commander of Montgomery post 429 Sons of the American Legion, Rhinebeck NY. The last few years Wally enjoyed spending time with his sons and his grandchildren and could often be found taking long rides with his dog Charlie, usually to their favorite swimming spots.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his two sons William F. Palinski and his partner Stephanie of Glenville, NY, and Thomas James Palinski of Rhinebeck, NY; brother Mark Palinski and his wife Chris; Sister Nancy Palinski and her partner Ken; Grandchildren Wyatt, Ophelia, Calliope, and Teague; In-laws Jean King-Myatt, William King and his wife Kathy, Thomas King and his wife Cindy, Roberta Cullen and her husband Kevin, Marianne Vacchiano and her husband Mathew, Robert King, Nancy Schoonmaker King as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents William F. Palinski and Margaret (Zabrowski) Palinski; brother James Palinski; Father in-law Robert King; brother in-law James King and nephew William Palinski.
Services and burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery are private for the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck.
